We've Been Nurturing Perfection For 15 years!
Established in 2010 after the Great Recession of 2007 to 2009 K Smart Sign Ltd was born! K Smart Sign was the brain child of Ben Kinsella who decided to throw the towel in on his aerospace engineering position with the global leader in aerospace technology in search to build a product and brand for himself that others would love. Not many can say at 23 years old it was a wise move, however, fast forward 15 years and K Smart Sign is the largest design, manufacturer and retailer of home signs in Europe with a staggering 2.3 million property signs sold to date while employing 20+ workers.
The bold statement of being the largest in Europe (lets also add in most recognised and trusted) comes about through years of perfecting the product through rigorous improvement and year upon year investment. The K Smart Sign facility now occupies 24,000 Sqft of unit space in Leigh, Lancashire UK. K Smart Sign only bring in raw materials which are then designed and manufactured into the stunning collections you see today.

Ben Kinsella – Founder & Director
Ben founded K Smart Sign Ltd in 2010 after leaving a career in aerospace engineering to pursue his passion for innovation and design. What started in his garden garage has grown into one of the UK’s leading custom house sign manufacturers. With a relentless drive for improvement, Ben built the company from the ground up—designing the systems, building the production lines, and shaping the vision that powers K Smart Sign today. He’s passionate about simplicity, quality, and staying one step ahead of the competition.

Lauren Shaw – UV Manager
Lauren oversees the UV production room at K Smart Sign Ltd, ensuring every sign meets the highest standards of print quality and durability. With a sharp eye for detail and a passion for precision, she keeps the workflow running smoothly and efficiently. With his organised approach and sharp eye for accuracy, Barry makes sure every parcel leaves the building right, and right on time.

Kobe Jones – Customer Services Head
Kobe is the voice of K Smart Sign Ltd, leading our customer service team with a calm, friendly, and solutions-focused approach. He handles the day-to-day queries and niggles across all our selling platforms, making sure every customer gets the help they need—fast. Whether it’s sorting an issue or answering calls, Kobe brings clarity, patience, and professionalism to every conversation.
Theo Boyd
Theo is the Head of CNC at K Smart Sign Ltd, responsible for overseeing the operation of more than 10 CNC machines that produce our precision-cut laser products. With years of hands-on experience, Theo ensures every sign meets exacting standards while also training new CNC operatives to work to the same high level. From workflow management to machine maintenance, Theo keeps the heart of our production floor running smoothly every day.
Arthur & Owen
Arthur Workman and Owen Graham are the creative backbone of K Smart Sign’s design department. As joint heads of artwork, they bring a wealth of knowledge, precision, and flair to everything they touch. With years of experience between them, they’re not only masters of design but also dedicated mentors—always on hand to train, guide, and support the artwork team.
From overseeing complex layouts to ensuring each product meets our high visual standards, Arthur and Owen are the ones who turn ideas into stunning, production-ready pieces. Our Journey: From Garage Grit to Industry Giant
2010
The Leap of Faith
At just 25 years old, Ben Kinsella made a bold decision. Frustrated with the instability following the 2007 global recession and fuelled by a burning desire to be in control of his own future, he left behind a promising career as an aerospace CAD CAM engineer. With nothing but ambition and a garage, Ben set out to build something remarkable from the ground up.
2012
Building in the Shadows
The next two years were defined by pure hustle. Armed with a second-hand Roland desktop plotter, rolls of vinyl, and a vision, Ben worked solo from his garden garage—often late into the night. Every product was handcrafted, every design personally trialled and tested. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was foundational.
2013
The Game-Changing Shower
One seemingly ordinary morning in the shower, inspiration struck. Ben reimagined the sign-making process—why not print the design in reverse directly onto the material? It was revolutionary. Out went the fiddly, outdated vinyl-weeding method. In came the idea that demanded a colossal investment in a 64" digital printer… a machine that cost more than his car and took up more than half the garage!
2014
Sales Take Off
That monster printer transformed everything. Despite it nearly taking the roof off the garage, it enabled new design concepts and unmatched print quality. Customers noticed. Orders surged. Ben hired his first two employees, and production was in full swing. The garage could barely contain the momentum.
2015
A Giant Leap in Space
With orders booming and the garage bursting at the seams, Ben took a huge risk—leasing a 3,000 sqft unit. Walking into it for the first time felt like stepping into a stadium compared to the old workshop. It was daunting: a five-year lease, two full-time staff, and overheads that would make anyone nervous. But the gamble paid off. Demand kept soaring, and K Smart Sign was on its way to becoming a household name.
2025
The Powerhouse We Are Today
Fast forward a decade and the transformation is staggering. K Smart Sign now operates from a cutting-edge 24,000 sqft facility, with 20 highly skilled full-time staff. We no longer assemble signs—we engineer them. From raw materials to the finished product, every sign is created in-house using state-of-the-art CNC machinery, CO₂ lasers, UV-curing technology, and precision automation. Our bespoke software system seamlessly connects sales from every platform—Amazon, Etsy, eBay, TikTok, and our own site—straight into production, tracking progress in real time. What began as a dream in a garage has evolved into one of the UK’s most advanced and trusted custom sign manufacturers.
